Introduction:
Swimming is an important water sport that takes place in water, through moving arms , legs and trunk with the aim of promoting man’s efficiency physically, skillfully, psychologically , socially and mentally, therefore, it is taught in all P.E. all over the world. As caliphomar Bin El-Khattals said: “ Teach your children swimming, Julian and horsemanship”
Swimming is essential for man, so it is the duty of education institutions, clubs, etc, to teach swimming to juniors.
Evaluation is a necessary educational process to detect and diagnose strengths and weakness of the work of educational institutions, in addition, evaluation guides education to determine how successful a program, a curriculum etc. has been in achieving the goals laid out for it at the outset.
Evaluation involves value judgement, a perspective toward a person, object, principle, strategy, idea these judgements may qualitative or quantitative.
Evaluation, teaching and learning are integrated system, evaluation of performance would be classified, diagnostic, summative, and formative. Since results of tests do not have any meaning perse, so we test and measure for evaluation.
Researcher view is to find a way to evaluate achievement level of swimming among students of P.E faculties in order to examine their progress through objective evidence as an essential step towards right guidance.
Problem and importance:
Our age is distinguished with systematic application of the scientific method, including research and experimentation. However, the researcher , through his readings in literature, scientific references related to swimming, as well as a trainer of swimming for junior in sports clubs, noticed that the evaluation process of skilled achievement is subjective, not based on objective tests and measurers that led him to set up a collection of tests based on scientific technique to measure the skilled dimension that facilitate student’s evaluation in swimming and to determine his level.
Purpose:
The purpose of study was to:
1-Set up a collection of tests to determine the skilled level of students of P.E Faculty, Tanta University, in the swimming subject, at the beginning of teaching process.
2- Set up, a collection of tests to determine the skilled level of students of P.E Faculty, Tanta University, in the swimming subject, in middle of teaching process.
3-Set up a collection of tests to determine the skilled level of students of P.E Facility, Tanta university, in the swimming subject, in the end of teaching process.
Reach questions:
1-What are the skilled tests for determining the skilled level of the students of P.E Faculty, Tanta University, in the swimming subject, at the beginning of teaching process.
2-What are the skilled tests for determining the skilled level of the students of P.E Faculty, Tanta University, in the swimming subject, in the middle of teaching process .
3-What are the skilled tests for evaluating the skilled level of the students of P.E Faculty , Tanta University, in the swimming subject, in the end of teaching process.
Method:
The applied method was the experimental approach.
Subjects:
The sample of study was of 100 students selected from first year students, Faculty of Physical Education, Tanta University.
Reserch areas :
A-Place:
Tests were conducted at the swimming pool of sporting Tanta Stadium .
B-Time:
Tests were conducted in the second –term where teaching swimming through lectures as follows :
- At the beginning of the second term before starting the teaching process.
- In the middle of teaching process of second-term.
- In the end of teaching process of second term .
The strategy of study:
-The researcher collected all the available skilled tests related to swimming sport.
-The researcher determined the skilled aims related to the swimming program of the college.
-The researcher designed a form containing the test of higher frequency of the a viable skilled tests.
-The researcher set up on opinion form for experts in swimming, in Egypt, including tests of higher frequency .
-The researcher came to a collection of skilled tests, covering all motor or skilled aims of the swimming program of college, that enabled the researcher to collect data related to the present study.
Tools:
- Measuring tape for distance.
- Floating tools (kick practice or water polo board ).
- Stop watch.
- An opinion form for experts (designed by the researcher).
Applied tests:
For measuring the skilled dimension of swimming:
1- Flat crawl swimming 20m.
2- Back crawl swimming 20m.
3- Systematic breathing to times.
4- Kick practice 20m.
5- Under-water swimming 20m
6- Keeping breathing for 10 seconds.
7- Flat floating and glide.
8- Flat floating.
9- Back floating.
10-Standing from floating.
11-Take-off in deep water.
12-Walking in water at chest-level.
Findings:
There are the conclusions as follow:
1-gaining access to a collection of tests to determine the skilled level in swimming subject among the students of P.E. Facutly , Tanta University, at the beginning, of the teaching process.
2-Gaining access to a collection of tests to determine the skilled level in swimming subject among the student of P.E Faculty, Tanta University, in the middle of the teaching process.
3-Gaining access to a collection of tests to evaluate the skilled level in swimming subject among the students of P.E. Faculty , Tanta University, in the end of the teaching process.
4-Gaining access to a course map for the skilled evaluative program of swimming.
Recommendations:
1-Making use of the course map of the skilled evaluative program of swimming.
2-Similar studies to be administered to cognitive dimension as an evaluative dimension of swimming subject, in P.E. Faculties.
3-Similar studies to be administered to emotional dimension as an evaluative dimension of swimming subject, in P.E. Faculties.
Abstract
“ Building An Evaluative System Of A Swimming Program For Students Of P.E. Faculty
of Tanta University”
By : Mohamed Farouk EL- Sayed Ghazy
Evaluation is an essential educational process to detect end diagnose strengths and weaknesses of the work of the educational institutions, however, the evaluation process of skilled achievement is subjective not based on objective tests and measures that led the researcher to set up a collection of tests, based on scientific technique to measure the skilled dimension that ease student’s evaluation in the swimming subject and to determine his level at the beginning, in the middle and in the end of teaching process.
The research used the experimental approach, and a sample of 100 students form first-year students-faculty of Physical education, Tanta University.
The tests were conducted at the swimming pool, sporting Tanta stadium, at the beginning, in the midde, and in the end of teaching process, making use of a collection of tests that measure the skilled dimension of swimming.
The researcher concluded to a collection of tests to determine the skilled level of P.E. Faculty students, Tanta University, in swimming subjects, in addition to a collection of tests to evaluate the skilled level in the end of teaching process, and to set up a course map for an evaluative skillet program of swimming.
